Basic Air Filter swap procedure:

  • Remove the center engine surround/covers --These pop out of place via ball sockets.   Pull upward on the rear edge of the front most one first, then pull backward on it.  The rear one pops upward at all four connection points.
  • Optional to remove the left side engine bay trim which is held in place by 3 allen head screws. Removing this gives you a little more space to work
  • Unplug MAF sensor so you can open up the airbox and not disturb the wiring.
  • Loosen the clamps that hold the rubber bellows/elbow connection from the throttle body to the airbox
  • Pop the elbow out of the way -- there will be a vent hose connected to it still but plenty of slack to get it out of the way.
  • Remove three T20 torx screws that hold the airbox halves together along the top edge --be very careful not to drop these into the abyss
  • The halves will fold open -- there are two slotted connection points on the bottom that will stay somewhat engaged
  • Open these up enough to slide the old filter out and new one in place
  • Make sure the new filter is seated into place properly and gets a good seal.
  • Wiggle/pull upwards on the airbox half thats loose to get it seated back into position
  • Reinstall the three torx screws
  • Reverse other steps and you should be good to go!
